School-Based Police Officer

​​This position plays an important role in working with the school community and building positive relationships.  

The role establishes positive relationships between students and police. School Based Police Officers contribute to establishing a safe and supportive learning environment for students; conduct crime prevention activities within school; investigate crime activities within school and the school community; provide a police resource in school; delivering lectures and providing information on law, police duties and other related topics which support the school curriculum; and participate in student activities such as excursions and camps.

Hours of duty

Generally hours are Monday to Friday 8.00 am - 4.00 pm and can be contacted through the school office. Shifts begin and end at Rockhampton Police Station so school based Police Officers endeavour to be at the school from 9.00 am until 3.00 pm.
