North Rockhampton State High School run a number of extra-curricular program to help support our students in 2023.
AMAYDA
The
AMAYDA is a self-defence, anti-bullying program where students learn how to
de-escalate situations and keep themselves and others safe. While they are
taught self-defence techniques the true focus and objective is to teach
students how they can avoid ever having to use them. The program focus’ on key
values like respect. The facilitators encourage students to respect themselves
and others.

eSmart
eSmart Schools is a long-term change program designed to educate, track, monitor and prevent bullying and cyber bullying. eSmart Schools and Libraries are tailor-made and designed to effect change in that specific environment.

Digital Thumbprint
Teaches young people to be safe, responsible and positive online through free, curriculum-aligned workshops that are fun and interactive.

Griffins LEO's Club
Formed in 2017 in partnership with Fitzroy River LION's club, the Griffins LEO's Club has gone from strength to strength in our school community. LEO clubs are a junior LION clubs, all about providing youth with the chance to grow in Leadership, Experience and Opportunity.
Over the years our LEO's have run training days, sausage sizzles, mental health stalls, fundraisers for cancer research, collections for RSPCA, Samaritan purse, volunteered at North Rocky Special School and many other projects.
Our LEO club is open to all school grades, for any student who is looking at growing in themselves, being part of a community of like minded students and helping our local community.
Meetings are every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month during school hours.

Breakfast and Lunch
ADRA breakfast and lunch
The Seventh Day church currently weekly provide 100 lunch and breakfast packs to our school.
These packs can be accessed through the Guidance and Student Support offices.

Calvary Church Lunch support
The Calvary church currently provide bread and spreads each week to help support our students. Students can access sandwiches every day through the G.O. office.

ARTIE Driver Licensing Program
The Artie Driver Licensing Program is a program for Indigenous students turning 16. To be eligible for this program the students must have an attendance rate higher than 90% for Term 1 of the year they are turning 16.
As part of the program, they are signed up to Prep L, then once this is completed they then can go and get their Learners.
Once students have their Learners, they receive five free driver lessons. Then once all 100 hours have been attained, they can go for their driving test. Everything is paid for by the ARTIE Program.

P.A.R.T.Y Program
The P.A.R.T.Y Program (designed to Prevent Alcohol and Risk related Trauma in Youths) is a dynamic and interactive injury prevention program. Consisting of talks from police officers, paramedics, emergency department doctors and nurses, visits to the ICU ward, rehabilitation ward and a hands-on experience with a simulation in the emergency room. This provided students with a first-hand insight into the medical field, recognising potential future careers. Students were also taught to recognise potential injury producing situations and how to adopt behaviours to minimise unnecessary risks.
