Dear parents and carers,
Child safety expectations in Australia have changed, and many organisations are adjusting to what these new requirements mean in practice.
To support our community, North Rockhampton State High School will be hosting a free Child Safe Workshop on Monday 25 May 2026, led by Dr Caroline Blackley, whose research focuses on helping organisations create safer environments for children.
This workshop is designed to give parents, carers, and community members a clear understanding of the updated Child Safe Standards and how they help protect young people. The session is practical, easy to follow, and focused on real‑world steps that schools and organisations can take to strengthen child safety.
What you'll learn:
- What has changed in the Child Safe Standards
- How organisations are expected to respond
- What strong child safety practice looks like
- How families and communities can play a role
The program ensures no jargon or complicated language, just clear, helpful guidance to support safer environments for every child.
