North Rocky High is excited to present Disney’s classic The Little Mermaid this weekend. A cast
of 50 students will take to the stage of the school’s Performing Arts Centre,
which has been has been transformed into a beautiful, colourful underwater
world for three shows (Friday night at 7pm, Saturday at 1pm and 7pm).
All your favourite Little
Mermaid characters will be brought to life by a talented cast including
Charlotte Higgins as Ariel, Mikayla Patterson as Flounder, Joshua Betts as
Sebastian and Cate Hanna as the evil sea witch, Ursula. Familiar tunes like Under the Sea, Kiss the Girl and Part of
Your World make this musical a real family favourite.
As The Little Mermaid
celebrates the beauty of the ocean, the Art department found creative ways to
reuse and recycle all kinds of plastics that threaten marine life. Plastic bags
and bottles, bubble wrap, polystyrene cups and drinking straws were all used to
create fantastic wearable art pieces, transforming the chorus into a living
coral reef and filling the stage with a spectacle of colourful sea life.
As well as singing, dancing and acting, students have been
involved in all aspects of production behind the scenes from backstage, sound
and lighting to making costumes and props, designing make up and playing in the orchestra.
The school café will also be open. Hospitality students have
been busy decorating the café and preparing a variety of ocean themed snacks
North Rocky High students and staff look forward to
welcoming everyone to their 2018 musical The
Little Mermaid. Tickets are still available through the school on 49 247
