Local Library Visit

Last Wednesday afternoon, Barbara May and Janelle Learmont, from our school library attended a QSLA Capricornia meeting at the Rockhampton Regional Southside Library.  Ann-Maree Dyer, from the library, showed us the latest promotions and projects offered by our wonderful local library and introduced us to some of the library staff.
One of the highlights of the afternoon was becoming acquainted with iZac, the robot, who is a recent member of the library staff.  iZac is a part of the STEM program (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) at the library. He stands approximately 500cms and is very interactive.  iZac makes  eye contact, has touch and listening sensors and all his actions, responses and speech are coded.  iZac is able walk, perform Tai Chi and follow humans around.  He doesn’t come cheap though – in fact, he costs about the same price as a small car.  Look on the RCC website or contact the Southside Library for information about the Coding club and other activities they provide.
